Magazines.com Features Discounted Fashion Magazines During Fashion Week
(Vocus) February 18, 2009 -- New York Fashion Week happens twice a year--in February and September. The event hosts fashion designers from all over the world who show their collections.
While other cities like Paris, Milan and Florence also host major fashion events, the New York City event is considered the main showcase event for American designers, who will be previewing their fall 2009 collections.
To mark this important event in the fashion industry, internet retailer Magazines.com is featuring subscriptions to top-selling fashion magazines (http://www.magazines.com/category/fashion) like Vogue, Elle, InStyle (http://www.magazines.com/product/instyle), Allure, Esquire, GQ, Lucky, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Cosmopolitan and Seventeen at significant discounts off cover prices.
Fashion Week began in 1993 and has been held at Bryant Park behind the New York Public Library near New York City's famed Garment District, home of many fashion designers' studios. The Council of Fashion Designers of America and IMG Fashion, which run Fashion Week, announced earlier this month the event will move to Lincoln Center for 2010.
In its first year the event featured about 35 shows and has grown to some 70 shows. This year's runway shows include up-and-coming American designer Charlotte Ronson, and Rachel Roy as well as established designers Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste and Lela Rose among many more.
It is estimated more than 200,000 fashion industry professionals and celebrities attended last year's invitation-only events, which generated $466 million in visitor spending for New York City.
